After four years of the disturbing FX series, Jessica Lange announced her departure from the show. But now she seems to be having second thoughts.
“I’m done,” Lange said when asked why she wasn’t coming back. Though she isn’t leaving empty handed. MSN notes that the actress received three Emmy nominations, two Emmys, a SAG Award, and a Golden Globe.
But the actress may not be gone for good. “If Ryan came to me and said, ‘Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?’ I would absolutely say yes if I liked it,” Lange admitted in an interview.
Lange is set to join the cast of Eugene O’Neill’s Broadway play Long Day’s Journey Into Night. She will be once again working with American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy since he holds the stage rights for the play.
Lange does admit that she will miss the characters that she played in the show. “As on-edge or neurasthenic as they appear to be, they have a spine of steel.” It’s exactly the kind of complexity in a character that I love, that it appears to be one thing and it’s something else.”
American Horror Story fans still have season five to look forward to, which will return in October.
