Bravo's first scripted comedy series 'Odd Mom Out' with Jill Kargman starts next week

Bravo is introducing its first ever scripted comedy series in June called Odd Mom Out. From New York Times Best-Selling author Jill Kargman, Odd Mom Out follows Kargman, who plays Jill Weber, a satirical version of herself, as she traverses the elite yet duplicitous environment of New York’s Upper East Side and the privileged clique of mothers that inhabit it. Kargman’s co-stars include The Office’s Andy Buckley, Emmy nominated and Golden Globe winning actress Joanna Cassidy, Sean Kleier from Showtime’s Happyish and Saturday Night Live’s Abby Elliott.

A special screening of the show’s premiere episode will be held Wednesday, June 3 at New York City’s Florence Gould Hall. The show’s cast and producers will be in attendance.

Kargman, a best-selling author of several books and the sister-in-law of actress Drew Barrymore, has also written more than 200 articles for respected publications like Vogue, GQ, Allure and many more.

The new comedy premieres on Bravo on Monday, June 8.

The show looks to poke fun at the haughty and pretentious airheads of NYC’s upper crust while Krugman’s character, Jill, still tries to maintain some semblance of everyday mom normalcy.

Star and executive producer Kargman knows the territory firsthand – she grew up near Madison Avenue and 66th Street and still lives in the neighborhood with her three kids, as per NY Daily News

For her part, Jill doesn’t really want to play the game, which makes her the “Odd Mom Out,” but sometimes, she can’t help giving in to the pressure. For one thing, she is trying desperately to get two of her three kids into kindergarten, which involves a rigorous audition process and, of course, an acceptable image, as per San Francisco Chronicle
