Many UK gamblers believed that Damian Lewis may be succeeding Daniel Craig for his role in James Bond.
The Telegraph reports that bookmaker William Hill, or the person that takes in the bets, cut the odds for Lewis from 25/1 to 3/1.
Lewis has now been ranked one spot below Idris Elba who remains in the lead. Hill commented, “This is an unprecedented gamble, as for no apparent reason we have seen bets of up to £200 on Damian Lewis being named as the next Bond.”
Other gambling sites have cut the odds in Lewis’s favor. According to the Mirror UK, Ladbrokes, another gambling site, has placed Lewis ahead of Idris Elba.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes says, “The gamble on Lewis has developed out of no where and with such serious pace we’ve been forced to cut his odds all the way down into favoritism.”
Other actors that bets were placed on are James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, and Richard Armitage. These names have not been officially confirmed to being considered for the role, but it is who the UK gamblers believe will most likely be in the running.
