Ryan Seacrest's plush job as host of American Idol comes to a close this upcoming season, but Fox doesn't plan to kick him on the curb just yet. The TV and radio personality comes back to weekly television with the new unscripted series Knock Knock Live, to premiere on July 21 at 9-10 p.m. ET/PT.
Announced in a press release, via Deadline, the new series finds Seacrest in a Los Angeles-based studio, while the "Knock Knock Live team" goes around the country, to any city at any time, to surprise random people at their front doors and make their realities come to life.
For example, one's favorite basketball player could knock on one's door to challenge them to a game of H-O-R-S-E to win courtside seats. In another segment, one of the biggest pop stars in the world would find themselves performing a personal concert in front of someone's door. The goal is to take one's ordinary day and make it extraordinary.
In addition to his host job, Seacrest also executive produces Knock Knock Live. He reunites with American Idol producer Simon Fuller, alongside XIX Entertainment and dick clark productions (So You Think You Can Dance) for the new live show. The latter he worked with for the past couple years as the host and executive producer behind the annual New Year's program Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. He also hosts the radio programs On Air with Ryan Seacrest and American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest for iHeart Media's 102.7 KIIS-FM.
On the show since June 2002, Seacrest hosts his final season of American Idol for the for its upcoming 15th season to air in early 2016.
