Jay Z rocks New York City with exclusive concert for Tidal subscribers

Jay Z took the stage last night in New York City for his highly anticipated and highly exclusive B-Sides Concert.

As we previously reported, Jay Z announced in April he would be holding a private concert for subscribers of his music-streaming service, Tidal. He promised fans that the show would take place in an “intimate” venue and he would perform songs he has never performed on stage or in the past ten years.

E! News reported that the famous rapper was joined on stage by rappers Memphis Black, Young Gunz, Freeway and Beanie Sigel and that the show was available for streaming for Tidal subscribers.

Perhaps the most notable event of the evening was during Jay Z’s “impromptu freestyle,” noted by E! News. The rapper used this as an opportunity to address the deaths of Freddie Gray, Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin and the critiques of Tidal. He even threw some digs at Spotify and Youtube.

This is not the first time Jay Z has publicly defended Tidal. Last month he took to Twitter to address his critiques with a series of tweets using the hashtag #TidalFacts.

"There are many big companies that are spending millions on a smear campaign. We are not anti-anyone, we are pro-artist & fan. #TidalFacts. Our actions will speak louder than words. We made Tidal to bring people the best experiences and to help artists give that to their fans over and over again.”
