William H. Macy still drives full throttle on his road trip sex comedy The Layover, but it appears he's had to change passengers along the way. Lea Michele no longer joins Kate Upton in The Layover, but a replacement for the Glee star was found in Alexandra Daddario (True Detective).
The original announcement and casting news came in March, where it revealed how the film centers on two lifelong friends who, when a hurricane reroutes their vacation plans and a boy gets in the way, causes the two friends to bicker as they stay in an extended St. Louis layover. Macy, in addition to directing, has a surrounding role here, as do Rob Corddry, Kal Penn, Matt Jones and Matt Barr. It comes from a screenplay by David Hornsby and Lance Krall, writers from Always Sunny.
It's not clear why Michele left the project. In fact the report with Daddario's casting announcement from Variety doesn't even mention her previous involvement. It is possible here role in Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens caused a schedule conflict, but not reports specific if this is the case. The film currently is in production in Canada, Daily Mail reports.
Upton, named People's first-ever Sexiest Woman Alive in December, has The Layover as only her third acting credit thus far. It being behind The Three Stooges and last year's The Other Woman. Daddario, meanwhile, is next seen in San Andreas on the 29th, and also recently filmed a role in the Nicolas Sparks' adaptation The Choice. This comedy is Macy's sophomore directorial effort, behind last year's Rudderless.
