Tom Hardy pulls double-duty as London gangsters in 'Legend' trailer

Tom Hardy is spending 2015 establishing his action film credentials with the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, but he’s still picking some really intriguing roles. In Brian Helgeland’s Legend, he has two roles, as he plays both Ronald and Reginald Kray.

The twins terrorized London during the 1950s and 1960s and, as The Guardian points out, were sentenced to life in prison in 1969 for two murders.

They were also Britain's most famous gangsters and were already the subject of Peter Medak’s 1990 film The Krays. In that one, Gary Kemp and Martin Kemp played the brothers.

Here, Helgeland, who has an Oscar for co-writing L.A. Confidential, has brought in Hardy to play both of them. Emily Browning (Pompeii), David Thewlis and Taron Egerton also star.

The film is set for release on Sept. 11 in the U.K., but doesn’t have a U.S. release yet. You can see Hardy in Child 44, which was just released, and George Miller’s new Mad Max movie, which comes out on May 15.
