With so much to watch on television, new and different job ideas are available every day. Some we wish we'd thought of, some are dreams, and others we would like to think we can do just from what we've learned watching television.
TheCelebrityCafe.com staff is sharing their thoughts on television and careers. Let us know what job you would want, or what job you think you could do, in the comments below!
Carissa Shuman - If they had all the forensics shows on TV when I was growing up like they do now, I probably would have become a forensic scientist, forensic psychologist, or criminal profiler (which makes use of both of those professions). I love puzzles, logic problems, and analytics. I also like the idea of making a difference in the lives of others, in a positive way.
Daniel Levine - I'd love to be a member of the Mystery Machine gang. They get to solve very serious mysteries with a dog, plus use their intelligence to stop criminals. And, to top it off, they get cool music during chase scenes! It would be nice to work with the underrated member of the group, Scrappy-Doo.
Elizabeth Learned - Anyone who knows me, and reads my recaps, knows crime dramas are the ones I love to watch the most. I love to watch criminalists and profiles figure out the whodunnit and catch the perpetrators responsible. However, since I am not that great with the sciences, I would want to be a liaison much like JJ Jareau in Criminal Minds before she transitioned to profiling, or even later as a criminal profiler. I would love to be able to do a job like this because it would mean solving puzzles and crimes by figuring out the person behind it.
Chelsea Lewis - One profession that I would take on just from watching television would be the ability to be a super-hacker like Felicity Smoak on the CW's Arrow. The ability to find anyone with a few key strokes of the computer and manage to save an entire city, sounds like fun to me. With the whole world moving towards being online, having the ability to be a super-hacker would give you a lot of leverage. It also wouldn't be bad living a real life comic book world and hanging out with Stephen Amell.
Julianne Mosher - If journalism fails me, I'm going to apply for America's Next Top Model, win the competition, and make a profession of "smizing" while taking really awesome pictures in couture clothing.
Robby Sabo - If you count sports, then I'd want to be a Free Safety for the New York Jets or a general manager in baseball.
If sports are taken out of the equation, then I would replace Fox Mulder on the X-Files.
....somebody needs to remind everyone "the truth is out there."
Marie Blake - Well, I love the show Bones on FOX, so I would love to be a biological anthropologist. Working with skeletons would seem like a very entertaining job, throw in a murder mystery that needs to be solved and a handsome FBI agent and that seems like the best job!
AnnaRose Meeds - Being as I love to watch British shows as well as ones with a fantasy element, I could be a duchess or even princesses from my television watching. Caring for subjects kindly, wearing beautiful gowns, adhering to manners, hiding certain emotions - I could fit in with the Downton Abbey or Once Upon a Time or even Doctor Who crowd pretty easily.
Will Ashton - While I don't have the right to say I've ever been on one, based on the numbers of hours I've spend watching the Game Show Network and also catching episodes of The Price is Right and Family Feud in my youth, I think I could make some quick money in the game show world. Granted, I don't have the smarts to make a name for myself on Jeopardy now or anytime soon, but I do think I could make it big on the Feud—should my family be willing to participate. My siblings are equally as enthusiastic fans, but it would take some some convincing to put my mother and old man on national TV. I'm sure they would be enough of personalities to stand out, but as long as they can be quick up to keep up with Steve Harvey's antics, we should have a solid chance to get to fast money and maybe a car to later down the road. God knows that's something I need one of these days.
Angela Corry - As a medical drama junkie I think I could do a bang up job being a doctor in the emergency room or better yet, an expert like Dr. House, sans the drug addiction. I started way back watching M.A.S.H. and Quincy with my grandmother, but my addiction truly began when I started watching both Chicago Hope and ER back in 1994. Throw in House, Grey's Anatomy, Royal Pains, The Night Shift and a whole bunch in between, I have over 10 years experience "practicing" medicine. Really, when in doubt it's sarcoidosis.
Tina Henry - If I had just been born a bit later, say the early to mid-22nd century, there is no doubt in my mind that I would be attending Starfleet Academy and eventually holding the position of captain of a U.S.S. starship. Ex astris, scientia
Marc Regen - If I could take on a profession just from watching TV it would be an Olympic gymnast. From watching Make It or Break It for four seasons, I can easily do a floor routine, flip holding onto rings, do roundups and many other moves professionally. Most importantly, I would be able to do this because they were in constant training and being told how to do moves. By watching, I caught into the jargon that they use with one another as well. I wonder if I would one day win a Gold or a Silver medal. If we're romanticizing the possibility, then it better be a Gold medal!
