'Scream' goes to MTV in trailer for new series

Much like a horror killer, Scream does not die. MTV is here to make it stay around with their new TV series, also called Scream. Now, to get a peak of the new summer show, MTV released the first trailer for the upcoming program.

The trailer was released during Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards. A mere minute long, this promo, found on MTV, prominently features Bella Thorne, whom one has to assume plays the same kind of role Drew Barrymore played in the original Wes Craven film, along with some other new characters who the station hopes audiences root for as this new Ghostface comes killing and slashing around town.

At one point last month, it was rumored Scream the show would be called Hush, but it looks as though that's not the case as the name Scream is prominently seen in the ending title card. While Carven directed all four movies, he is not signed on to helm any of this season's episodes. He is, however, on board as an executive producer.

Jill Blotevogel is the showrunner for Scream. Like all MTV shows, and the original movies, this new show centers on a group of teenagers who come together and apart after a string of murders. As of now, it looks as though no one from the original films is set to star in the show, even in cameo form. While MTV doesn't have the best track record in the world, they have had success with their TV version of Teen Wolf, so hopefully they can bring that to this new Scream.

Scream premieres June 30. Check out the trailer below:
