The New York Knicks' season has been nothing short of a disaster, but Phil Jackson promises fans that the future will be much brighter.
The New York Post reports that during a presentation to season-ticket holders Jackson discussed the concerns of fans and his plans for the NBA Draft. Jackson added that he's thankful for fans for showing patience during the rough season.
“I commiserate for the people who put a lot of money out there, who have season tickets who sit and watch the game. I empathize with that part of it. To rebuild this team, we knew we were going to have to take the team apart to get where we have to."
Jackson went on to summarize the frustrations of the team and its fans.
“I can make the argument we had to go through it. S–t happens and this season it did happen to us.’’
Jackson hinted that the team is looking for a defensive-minded big man to replace Tyson Chandler who was traded to the Dallas Mavericks earlier in the season. Among names being mentioned are Duke center Jahlil Okafor and Kentucky forward Karl-Anthony Towns.
In Jackson's first season as team president, the Knicks have the worst record in the NBA and have a lost a franchise record of 61 games. due to knee surgery, the 2014-2015 season continues to be one that fans hope to forget.
