Obama says Hillary Clinton would be 'an excellent president'

Hillary Clinton has offically entered her name in the race for the presidency in 2016, and President Obama has already given her his support.

The New York Daily News reports that at a news conference in Panama, Obama said that Clinton would be right for the job if she chose to run for office. Obama added that Clinton's past accomplishments show that she has the skills necessary to lead the nation.

“She was a formidable candidate in 2008. She was a great supporter of mine in the general election. She was an outstanding Secretary of State,” Obama said Saturday. “She is my friend. I think she would be an excellent president.”

Clinton has long been rumored to be a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination. The president continued to show his support of Clinton by praising her ability to handle herself during debates and conversations concerning foreign policy. Obama also said that Clinton's track record with domestic policy shows that she cares about working families.

“If she decides to run, if she’s going to make an announcement, she’s going to have some strong messages to deliver,” Obama said.

Clinton is scheduled to announce her presidential run through a video post on social media this weekend. The video was posted to YouTube earlier today.
