While fans of Mad Men prepare to say goodbye to the show, executive producer and director Scott Hornbacher thinks the ending will leave fans divided.
Hornbacher told Deadline that he expects there to be at least some controversy surrounding the series finale. Hornbacher added that the show requires some processing to understand what's going on with the characters and thinks that will remain true for the final episode. Regardless of what fans may or may not think, Hornbacher said that he's more than satisfied with the conclusion.
"I feel very strongly that the way the show ends is a culmination of Don's story and the series in a way that it is very appropriate and gratifying," he said. "I feel like we did everything we could to execute it in the best way possible, and I'm pretty sure people are going to embrace it. It certainly is a fitting end in my view."
Mad Men premiered on AMC in 2007 and became a hit with critics and fans alike. The star of the show, Jon Hamm, said that he feels content with what he and the cast have done over the years and said the show is ending just how the creators wanted it to.
The series finale of Mad Men will air on May 17.
