Whether donning the maroon, gold and white of the Cleveland Cavaliers or the black, red and white of the Miami Heat, LeBron James is the most popular figure in the NBA.
James sits atop the NBA jersey sale list for the sixth consecutive year, which includes the duration of his four-year tenure in Miami and his last season in Cleveland in addition to this year. This year also marks the ninth time in James’ 12-year career that he ranks first, reports ballerstatus.com.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry came in second on the jersey sale list. Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant ranked third; Kevin Durant (of the Oklahoma City Thunder) and Derrick Rose (of the Chicago Bulls) rounded out the top five.
In terms of overall team merchandise, the Chicago Bulls sit atop that list. The last time they ranked first in this category was 2012, according to The Denver Post.
Both Rose’s Bulls and James’ Cavs are headed to the playoffs. Cleveland will be the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference as they make their first appearance in the postseason since 2010. Chicago will be either the third or fourth seed.
Curry has led the Warriors to the best season in franchise history and the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
