Kim Richards has reportedly checked into rehab following her arrest earlier this month, during which she kicked a police officer while being booked.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was “humiliated” by her arrest and wants to avoid jail time at any cost, a source said.
"Kim went to rehab finally because she got arrested, she humiliated her kids and she wants to avoid jail," the insider told People.
She will appear on Dr. Phil this week, where she reportedly stormed out of the interview when the television doctor questioned her mothering skills.
The source continued, “If the arrest hadn't happened she wouldn't be going to rehab; it would be business as usual. She's in denial that she has a problem."
Richards’ sobriety was brought into question this past season of her Bravo show, where she indicated she was under enormous stress in her life. Her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, lives with her and has stage IV cancer.
Richards will appear on Dr. Phil on Tuesday.
