Kanye West settles paparazzi assault lawsuit after he apologizes

The 2013 lawsuit filed against Kanye West by videographer, Daniel Ramos, has finally been settled.

On July 19, 2013 West attacked Ramos outside Los Angeles International Airport after being angered the questions he was asking, People notes.

At the time West told Ramos, "You're trying to get me in trouble so I have to pay you, like, $250,000.”

West, 37, was charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft in September 2013 after he allegedly punched Ramos and wrestled to the ground with him, which was ultimately proven by the footage obtained from Ramos’ video tapping, according to People.

However in November 2013, the “All Day” rapper maintained his innocence saying that he acted out of self-defense and was sentenced to two years probation, 24 hours of anger management therapy sessions and 250 hours of community service.

The case, which was originally set for trial on April 14 was dismissed Tuesday because both parties were able to reach a settlement that was to their satisfaction.

Ramos’ attorney, Gloria Allred, said in a statement including a picture of West and Ramos shaking hands that an important aspect of the settlement was West’s apology to Ramos, USA Today reports. Allred did not discuss whether the settlement involved any financial terms.

Allred added that she is very proud of Ramos for having the courage to pursue a case that is important to him and other celebrity photographers.

"We believe that this case sent an important message. Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question,” Allred said.
