Whatever critics say, Avengers: Age of Ultron will find a massive audience. It could be the next Citizen Kane or on the level of Plan 9 For Outer Space, but the Marvel franchise is an unstoppable machine right now. As the first responses from the superhero sequel come into play, however, it looks as though the mega-blockbuster is at least pretty good.
It's only a handful of tweets so far, but they were collected by both Sound on Sight and Slashfilm.
They all come from critics, which gives their responses some creditability. While they are all embargoed for the time being, the responses announced thus far (at least mostly) feel Age of Ultron is a well-directed and appropriately darker return.
Here are the most positive tweets so far:
Avengers 2 is both an amazing sequel and a fantastic setup for the rest of the MCU. So nerdy in the best possible way.

Also, the usual Avengers supporting players stand out this time. Black Widow kicks ass and Hawkeye has the best lines.

Just saw AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Soooooooo many characters and soooooo much going on, I can't believe it's coherent, let alone so fun.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015
And out of all the AGE OF ULTRON chaos, somehow Hawkeye gets the best role in the movie. AND the best line of the movie, maybe the series.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015
One more: Spader's Ultron so much more snarky than I thought he would be. So, yeah, he's basically James Spader.

#AvengersAgeOfUltron is darker, weirder and more emotional than the original. It's also the thrill ride to beat this summer.
— Drew Taylor (@DrewTailored) April 10, 2015
.@Avengers #AgeOfUltron might be the most true to the comic movie ever. So many images taken right off the page that made me faint with joy.
— Alex Zalben (@azalben) April 10, 2015
No spoilers, but biggest surprises: Thor is hilarious and Scarlet Witch kicks so much ass. Rest of the #Avengers ain't too shabby, either.

Meanwhile, here are some that are not quite as enthusiastic, but still favorable:
Whedon stuffs Avengers Age of Ultron with an impossible amount of great geekiness. Sometimes it feels like too much, but he pulls it off!
— Kevin P. Sullivan (@KPSull) April 10, 2015
Whedon's love of Scarlet Witch and his guilt for Hawkeye's Avengers role stand out. Both are fantastic!
— Kevin P. Sullivan (@KPSull) April 10, 2015
Avengers: Age of Oh Yeahhhhh It's Good!
— Christopher Rosen (@chrisjrosen) April 10, 2015
Avengers: Age of Ultron: An entire "phase" in Soylent brick form. More nerd plot, more spectacle, more sarcasm. Feeling good dizzy.
— Matt Patches (@misterpatches) April 10, 2015
Of course, not everyone can have fun:
I swear, AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON is one big advertisement for CIVIL & INFINITY Wars. Whedon steps into @Jon_Favreau Iron Man 2 territory here
— David Ketchum (@KetchumAtMovies) April 10, 2015
These are just a handful released, and more come in due time. The biggest takeaway from these tweets seem to be that Jeremy Renner is the standout of the film, which is always exciting. It's finally time for Hawkeye to hold his own weight, and this is as good of time as anyway.
