Known for her maternal and dowdy characters, Brenda Fricker has appeared in over 80 films and television shows since 19 and continues to perform. Her most notable appearance, for which she won the 1990 Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, was the loving, hard-working Mrs. Brown in My Left Foot. Other popular appearances were secretary Ethel Twitty in A Time to Kill, the Pigeon Woman in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, motherly Megan Roach in the television show Casualty and caretaker Maggie Nelson in Angels in the Outfield.
