Top 10 #FoodieBandNames

This list takes a look at popular bands throughout the decades, though there is a bit of a bent towards classic rock. The angle is their names and how some Twitter users have had fun changing them up. This week’s mash-up is all about food. With the hash tag #FoodieBandNames, some were very creative, and some were considered “cheating.” For example, Cake is already a food.

As previously reported, it’s become a common trend with Twitter users to change titles, whether it be for movies, songs, lyrics, or in this case, band names. Each time there has been a different theme. We have shared #RuinAn80sSong with song titles such as “Mime After Mime” instead of “Time after Time” and #ZombieSongs with titles such as “Brain Drops Keep Falling Off My Head” instead of “Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head.”

#FoodieBandNames have been shared by restaurants, various food companies, and regular everyday users alike. This may be a fun activity for you if you’re a food connoisseur or just hungry! Here are a few examples to get you started, but of course we’ve saved the best for our list. You can also watch related music videos for each spoof. Enjoy!

The Yeasty Boys

This is an uplifting twist of The Beastie Boys, a “hip hop” band from New York. The truth is that they didn’t really fit into any one category, having hits that ranged from rap, to punk, to heavy rock and so on. They are probably best known for their 1986 hit “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).

Buns N’ Roses

Buns N’ Roses is the food version of Guns N’ Roses (GNR), a heavy metal band popular in the late 80s and early 90s. With their iconic logo of two rose wrapped guns pointed at one another, it was easy to imagine the roses sandwiched between two halves of a hamburger bun, especially the Japanese Burger King’s black burger! For some, eating one of those black burgers while jamming out to classic GNR would be paradise.

Fleetwood Mac & Cheese

Fleetwood Mac is another classic rock band, though most fans would not consider their music to be cheesy. However, mac & cheese is a common favorite, and the cheesier, the better! In fact, having mac & cheese while listening to Feetwood Mac sounds like an enjoyable evening meal.

The Rolling Scones

Dry sweet biscuits, or scones, can be very tasty if made correctly. Conversely, if not baked properly, they can be too hard and rather bland. In those instances you may be tempted to throw them out the window and watch them roll down the street. Or, you may prefer to just listen to the classic rock group, The Rolling Stones.

Public Edamame

Although many people think of the civil rights movement as being a relative success, many of the inherent issues still exist, and it is through art that these deep seeded emotions and desires are expressed. The 1980s hip hop band, Public Enemy, made a name for themselves with their political criticisms and call for a true end to racism. And, for those of you who didn't know, edamame is a barely ripened soy bean.

Rage Against The Vending Machine

Rage Against the Machine was the name of a turn of an alternative rock band popular in the 1990s. Their name directly reflected their hostility towards and frustration with structure of our society, including the political and economic machinations. I suppose they desired to beat down the government dispensary system the way you might want to kick a vending machine that just “ate” your dollar.
