Kevin Kline and Emma Thompson join Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' live-action adaptation

Disney's live-action version of their tale as old as time continues to add star power, this time with some Hollywood veterans.

Kevin Kline and Emma Thompson are confirmed to join the cast of the Bill Condon-directed Beauty and the Beast, which, we previously reported, has set March 17, 2017 as its release date. Kline will be playing Belle's father Maurice, and Thompson will lend her voice to play talking teacup Mrs. Potts with the help of some CG magic, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Kline and Thompson are certainly no strangers to Hollywood or Disney projects, with Kline appearing in notable films like 1988's A Fish Called Wanda. He also did voice work for Disney's own The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996, and is set to appear in this summer's Ricki and The Flash alongside Meryl Streep.

Thompson portrayed Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers in Disney's Saving Mr. Banks in 2013 and was heard in Pixar's Brave in 2012 and Treasure Planet in 2002.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast live-action adaptation has been making headlines with its whirlwind of casting news, with Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou all being confirmed in the past few weeks. Emma Watson was cast as Belle in January.
