Helen Mirren wants to be a 'Fast and Furious' villain

Dame Helen Mirren would very much like to appear in a Fast and Furious movie -- as the villain.

The 69-year-old actress has an incredible body of work, including roles on stage and screen, and in an interview with Yahoo! Movies, she slipped in a shout-out to Furious 7 star Vin Diesel and expressed desire to appear in an installment of the highly successful series.

"My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie," she said. "I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast and Furious 8. I have to say Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart — I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving."

Mirren is also no stranger to action-heavy films like the Fast and Furious franchise: she wielded a gun in 2010's RED and its 2013 sequel, but she also says that a third film is unlikely.

"But I would love it if they did, or [did] something similar," she said, "because those are such fun to do."

While Mirren isn't racing against Diesel in an actual Fast and Furious film just yet, she'll get a chance to go up against him in a box office battle this weekend: Furious 7 opens on April 3, while Mirren's Holocaust drama Woman in Gold will serve as counterprogramming when it opens on April 1.
