With the help of a genetically engineered soldier from another planet, she goes on an adventure to claim her inheritance. Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis and Eddie Redmayne star in the PG-13 film. The sci-fi adventure runs for two hours and five minutes in conventional, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters.
A young man is plucked from a farm and tasked to take down an evil queen and her assassins in Seventh Son. As the last heir of a warrior family with mystical powers, it’s up to him to save his kingdom. The PG-13 sci-fi adventure stars Julianne Moore, Olivia Williams, Djimon Hounsou, Jeff Bridges and Ben Barnes. The one hour and forty-two minute film is available in conventional, 3D and IMAX theaters.
When a pirate threatens to destroy marine life, Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and Sandy head to the land to save their home in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Antonio Banderas co-stars in the animated adventure based on the hit Nickelodeon series. The family friendly comedy plays for one hour and thirty-three minutes.
A man believes his pets are talking to him in The Voices. He struggles with whether or not to succumb to their requests and goes on a murder spree. The comedic thriller stars Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick, Gemma Arterton and Jacki Weaver. The one hour and forty-three minute limited released film is rated R for violence and language.
Two childhood friends fall for each other at different points in their lives in Love, Rosie. The one hour and forty-five minute romantic comedy shows their relationship over the course of ten years as they go their separate ways while still connecting along the way. The limited released film is based on Cecelia Ahern’s novel. It’s rated R for language and sex.
The documentary Ballet 422 provides a behind the scenes look at the prestigious New York City Ballet. It follows choreographer Justin Peck as he collaborates with dancers, musicians and techs to create his new ballet, Paz de la Jolla, for the company’s Winter 2013 season. The PG film is playing in limited theaters for one hour and twelve minutes.
Relationships between twenty-something friends and lovers is the focus of Boy Meets Girl. The limited released romantic comedy is a coming of age story surrounding a young transgender woman. The unrated film is playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-eight minutes.
All of the sci-fi films hitting theaters this week may take a back burner next week with the release of romantic dramas. Entering theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day is the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey.
