Trailer Park- 2/20 Edition: ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’ and ‘McFarland USA’ hope to travel to the top of the box office

There’s something for everyone at theaters this week from comedies to adult and family-friendly dramas and even horror. Moviegoers can travel through time with the sequel to a popular 2010 comedy.
Adam, Lou, Jacob and Nick take a trip into the past and future in Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The men use their time travel to benefit themselves by creating and inventing things that become popular. When Lou is shot after inventing the internet, the men head back into the hot tub to go back in time and save their friend. Adam Scott, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke and Craig Robinson star in the one hour and thirty-three minute comedy. The film is rated R for sex, language, nudity, drugs and violence.

A group of underprivileged teens join their high school track team in McFarland, USA. Under the guidance of their new coach, the teenagers show how teamwork and determination can beat the odds. The PG, family drama is based on the true story of the 1987 McFarland, California high school team. The two hour and nine minute film stars Kevin Costner.

A young women discovers that she is the ugly girl amongst her group of friends in The Duff. She seeks the help of a male classmate to turn around her look and make her more popular. The PG-13 comedy plays for one hour and forty-one minutes.

A young man adjusts to life without his father in All the Wilderness. Keeping to himself, his psychiatrist is of no help to him. A chance meeting with another young man opens up his eyes to other aspects of his city. The limited released drama stars Virginia Madsen, Danny DeVito, Evan Ross, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Isabelle Fuhrman. The unrated film runs for one hour and fifty-seven minutes.

A documentary crew investigates whether a man is telling the truth about seeing monsters in the woods in Digging Up the Marrow. During the filming, they encounter more than what they imagined. The unrated, limited released horror film runs for one hour and thirty-eight minutes.

Just like Digging Up the Marrow, next week’s release Out of the Dark hopes to give audiences a thrill. Another film debuting in theaters next week is Will Smith’s latest, Focus.
