'Supergirl' adds 'Homeland's' David Harewood, 'Grey's Anatomy's' Chyler Leigh

Two more stars have been added to the cast of CBS’ Supergirl and both should be familiar faces for TV viewers.

David Harewood, who starred on Showtime’s Homeland and ABC’s short-lived sitcom Selfie, has been cast as Hank Henshaw, who becomes known as Cyborg Superman in the comics. However, in the TV series, he will be a former CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Chyler Leigh, who was on Grey’s Anatomy and NBC’s Taxi Brooklyn, will star as Alexandra Danvers, the foster sister of Supergirl.

The pilot, which has already been ordered to series, will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. She is now 24 and is now learning about putting her superpowers to good use.

The rest of the cast includes Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Kara’s boss at CatCo; Mehcad Brooks as her co-worker, Jimmy Olsen; and Laura Benanti as Alura, Kara’s Kryptonian mother.

While airing on CBS, the project has several members of the Arrow/The Flash team working on it. Greg Berlanti is an executive producer, along with Andrew Kreisberg. Ali Adler, a producer on Chuck and No Ordinary Family (co-created by Berlanti) is also a co-writer and executive producer.

Supergirl is a Warner Bros. TV production, from Berlanti Productions.
