We're just a little over a month away from the premiere of Game of Thrones's fifth season, and we now have an official poster and some new clips to prepare us for the next chapter of the show.
The new poster shows Tyrion Lannister standing on the front of a ship looking up at Drogon, one of Daenerys's dragons.

This is a pretty huge piece of information about Tyrion's storyline. *spoiler alert!* We last left him fleeing King's Landing after murdering his father. He escaped the city with Varys, but it wasn't totally clear on where they were headed. Now this image suggests they're heading somewhere that might cross paths with Dany. Either that or her dragons have escaped and are seriously out of control. Then again, let's not forget the promos for Season 4 depicting Dany's dragons flying over King's Landing, which turned out to just be one of the Bran's visions, so the marketing department has certainly been a bit deceptive before.
We also have two new clips which tell us a bit more about the future of two fan favorite characters. In this first clip, Jon Snow confronts Mance Rayder, leader of the wildling army who was captured by the Night's Watch at the end of Season 4.
Then we have a clip of Brienne, who seems pretty unsure about her future. We last left her having failed in her mission to capture Arya. She finally did find Arya, but allowed her to escape as she fought the Hound. Still with Podrick, in this clip Brienne says that “the good Lords are dead and the rest are monsters," suggesting a pretty dark path ahead. But in a show where so many good people have been killed off and people like Roose Bolton continue to thrive, it's hard to blame her for her cynicism here.
Game of Thrones' fifth season will be an adaptation of the fourth and fifth books in the Song of Ice and Fire series, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. However, it appears the show will be straying from the books more and more as the series progresses, killing off more characters who still remain alive in the novels, as we previously reported. But given that the show plans to wrap up in just a few more seasons, and George R.R. Martin's novels likely will not be finished for many more years, altering these last few seasons definitely seems necessary.
Game of Thrones returns for its fifth season on April 12.
