'Community's Danny Pudi frontlines NBC pilot 'Strange Calls'

Community may not return to NBC for its sixth season, but one of its stars will return to the peacock network. Danny Pudi is set to frontline the network's horror comedy pilot Strange Calls.

As The Hollywood Reporter reveals, the show, based on the Australian show of the same name, centers on Toby (Pudi), an affable but down-on-his-luck police officer who gets transferred to a rural town that has supernatural underbelly.

The producers are making sure this pilot works around Pudi's Community schedule, which airs its (potentially last) new season on Yahoo Screen starting March 17. This means that, should Community get another season, Pudi can do both Dan Harmon's show and this new NBC program.

Jason Winer directs the pilot from a teleplay from Blake McCormick (Cougar Town).

Community was on NBC for five seasons before the network cancelled it. Pudi plays fan-favorite Abed in the series.
