For the first time in 2015, the Atlanta Hawks lost a game. The Hawks fell to the New Orleans Pelicans 115-110 Monday night.
The Hawks, who won 19 straight games, went 17-0 in January, put together the best calendar month in NBA history.
Atlanta is the only team in the NBA with 40 wins so far, posting a record of 40-9. During the winning streak, the Hawks, who hold a seven-game lead in the Eastern Conference, won 10 games against teams that are now .500 or better, according to ESPN.
"Nineteen games, that's good,” Paul Millsap said after the loss, reports USA Today. “We lost one — 19-1 now. So it's just regrouping. ... We can't let one loss turn into two losses."
Millsap posted 15 points for Atlanta in the loss to New Orleans, which is just the Hawks’ third setback in the last 36 games.
For the Pelicans, Anthony Davis made his return to the lineup after missing one game due to a groin strain. He amassed a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds.
The Pelicans have won six of their last seven and currently sit at 26-22.
