Adrian Peterson requests to be traded to the Cowboys

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has reportedly requested to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

According to Sporting News, Peterson spoke with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman to ask for the trade but Spielman along with other team officials have expressed no interest in dealing the running back.

Peterson's reason for requesting the trade stems from his feelings that the Vikings weren't there to support him during his legal issues last season. In an interview with ESPN, Peterson said he felt uneasy about returning to Minnesota.

"There were people (in the organization) that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren't heard from," Peterson said on ESPN. "It's hard to say (what my future will be).

Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges for using a "switch" to discipline his young son but accepted a plea deal last November. Peterson was suspended by the NFL for the remainder of the 2014 season and is still under suspension until April 15 unless a judge rules otherwise.

Peterson, a Texas native, has expressed interest in the past about playing for the Cowboys.
