‘Nashville’ Recap: Somebody pick up my pieces

Will has officially rallied after his now-ex-wife tried to commit suicide. Like any other male country artist going through some sort of trying life experience, he wrote a song and released it to the world for profit. Apparently it helps with the healing process.

I’d like to take a minute to just appreciate all the songs that are sung every week on Nashville. I honestly don’t know how the writers come up with so many new songs that all fit so perfectly into the show on a weekly basis, but I am truly impressed. The level of talent on the show is incredible. But, I digress.

While Will makes headlines on the radio front, Leila is getting cozy with Jeff Fordham. But don’t think she’s being naïve and falling into the arms of the man who sort of helped her attempt suicide- she knows what Jeff is really about. “Am I part of some mid-life crisis you’re having?” His shrugging of both shoulders says yes, yes you are Leila.

Juliette has figured out a way to get rid of all the pap’s following her pregnant behind around- she’ll just get a restraining order against every paparazzi in Nashville. Or, do a Vogue cover shoot and look absolutely stunning thus ceasing all gossip claiming she’s gained 75 pounds. It’s brilliant in a, “I can do whatever I want because I’m a blond, beautiful country singer,” kind of way.

It seems congratulations are in order. Rayna James single handedly dissolved a recording label. Edgehill Records is no more. Know who’s on that label, though? Rayna’s bitter ex-almost-husband who is now going to open his own recording label thanks to some good-ole-Jeff-Fordham-advice.

But even though Jeff is now president of Wheelin Dealin Records, he can’t be bothered to get his girlfriend a spot on the label and sends her over to Rayna who is more than willing to take on Leila’s new tell-it-how-it-is music.

Well, Jeff, karma’s a you-know-what because remember all those times when Luke was a red-neck jerk to Rayna when they disagreed on things like raising their kids, boarding schools, wedding plans, etc? That version of Luke just fired you because you’re bad for business.

We’ve only really seen Luke be the lovey-dovey star proposing to his girl in front of thousands of people. Now, we’ll get to see the business-savy shark.

The biggest turn of events though (although it falls perfectly in line with his character), involved one paranoid mayor and one high-class escort. Teddy has yet again stepped his foot in it. He went to confront his prostitute lover and was unaware that her house was under surveillance. I can’t see this going over well in his political circles.

I can't wait for next week. It seems like Rayna and Deacon may finally get their shot!
