When thinking of movie actors and actresses, people might believe that most stars are from the United States or Great Britain. However, many talented celebrities are from countries that might be forgotten. An example of this is the Austrian actor Christoph Waltz.
Waltz only recently began to appear in English movies, more often doing German films in his early career. According to his Bio., theater was where he began before working his way up into television. Waltz often portrayed villains in German crime films although he told The Hollywood Reporter, “German cop shows are not really what I became an actor for. I had made a lot of compromises over the years, and I had started to doubt myself, to doubt the meaning of what I was doing.”
Waltz’s big break came when he starred as Colonel Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantion’s Inglourious Basterds. For this performance, he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, the film’s sole win despite eight nominations. After this, critics have highly praised many of the films in which Waltz has appeared.
Not surprisingly, Waltz was nominated for Best Actor in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes for the 2015 Golden Globes. Here are some of Waltz’s best performances from his start to currently.
