Jim Parsons to play God on Broadway in 'Act of God'

While Sheldon might not approve, Jim Parsons is going to play God in a new play on Broadway written by a Daily Show writer.

Parsons will star in An Act of God, a 90-minute play to be directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello. It will officially be credited to the Almighty himself, with some help from The Daily Show writer David Javerbaum, who is also behind the popular Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod.

It will be a very limited engagement, set to start on May 5 at Studio 54. That sounds like the perfect place for God to speak after Cabaret closes.

Although it will be staged at Studio 54, it will not be a Roundabout Theater production. According to The New York Times, producer Jeffrey Finn is renting it out for the engagement.

Parsons was last seen on Broadway in the 2012 production of Harvey. The Big Bang Theory actor appeared on stage and in the HBO film version of The Normal Heart with Mantello.
