Disneyland is not only the happiest place on Earth, it has been a source of family memories and moments for generations. Beginning May 22, Disneyland will begin its diamond 60th anniversary celebration and the plans for this 2015 will be nothing short of magical.
Disneyland was officially opened on July 17, 1955 and since then Walt Disney’s park has been a worldwide known place where all people come to experience fantasy, dreams and magic. 60 years later and Disneyland Park is still one of the most visited places in the world and it is just as loved as it was all of those years ago.
At the beginning of the week, Disney fans all over the world were anxiously awaiting the announcement s that would be made that would describe what the anniversary celebrations would have to offer, and they definitely weren’t disappointed. Disneyland will be celebrating with a whole new fireworks spectacular, a new parade, new decorations and artwork that will cover both parks in diamonds and so much more.
Disney Geekery shows some amazing new pictures of the new parade, called “Paint the Night,” which uses over 1.5 million LED lights to light up the streets of Disneyland park. This parade seems like it will be almost in homage to The Main Street Electrical Parade, which is Disneyland’s most beloved and classic parade that has been around for decades. Disney’s California Adventure will also be getting an updated World of Color show that will showcase Walt Disney’s life and the start of Disney and the famous Mickey Mouse.
The new firework spectacular will be called, “Disneyland Forever,” and is reported to be the largest firework show in Disneyland history. One of the most incredible aspects of this show is the visual film display that will be projected onto the Main Street buildings during the show. Here is a video that demonstrates the magical projections in action:
More than just the incredible new fireworks and parade shows, Disneyland and California Adventure will be decked out in the most beautiful decorations. Since this is the diamond anniversary, Sleeping Beauty’s castle and Carthay Circle Theatre in California Adventure will one of the main focal points of this year’s anniversary. According to the Disney Parks Blog, “As part of the celebration, the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland park and Carthay Circle Theatre in Disney California Adventure park will glisten and gleam, each with its own diamond medallion featuring the letter “D.” The entire resort will sparkle with Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration décor and festive banners in shades of Disneyland blue.”
If that weren’t enough Disney Park Blogs also revealed that there will be over 500 new merchandise items that will feature art designed just for the 60th anniversary that shows the progression of Disneyland through the uses of colors and characters.
If there was ever a time to go to Disneyland, this year would be it. With all of the magical new shows and merchandise, the 60th anniversary of the happiest place on Earth, is really not to be missed.
