Disney is reportedly looking at Chris Pratt to star in an Indiana Jones reboot. That might mean that Star Lord’s time in the Marvel Universe could be limited.
Sources for Deadline say that it is in the very early stages, but Pratt is Disney’s top choice to play the iconic archaeologist. Disney hasn’t commented on the story, so it’s just a rumor at this point. But, man, is this one heck of a good rumor.
Pratt’s profile has soared since he appeared in a minor role in Zero Dark Thirty and debuted as the loveable Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. He became a superstar as Star Lord in last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy and is the lead in this year’s Jurassic World for Universal.
While Indiana Jones, who was originally played by Harrison Ford in four movies, was a Lucasfilm property, the character wasn’t wholly owned by the company. In December 2013, Disney bought the full rights to the character from Paramount, which distributed the original films.
Jurassic World opens on June 12.
