Musician Rod Stewart and comedian Jemaine Clement are celebrating their birthdays today.

Singer-songwriter Rod Stewart turns 70 today. Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and then with Faces. In August 1964, he signed a solo contract, releasing his first solo single, "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl," in October of the same year. He maintained a solo career alongside a group career, releasing his debut solo album, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down, in 1969.
Stewart's early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music and R&B. In the early 2000s, he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.
Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. He has had six consecutive No. 1 albums in the UK and has had 62 UK hit singles includes 31 that reached the top 10. He has had 16 top ten singles in the US, with four reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him No. 17 of the most successful artists on the "Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists." A Grammy and Brit Award recipient, he was voted at No. 33 in Q Magazine's list of the top 100 Greatest Singers of all time, and No. 59 on Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Singers of all time. As a solo artist, Stewart was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and was inducted a second time into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the Faces.

Comedian, actor and multi-instrumentalist Jemaine Clement turns 41 today. Clement and Bret McKenzie formed Flight of the Conchords while at Victoria University. They have toured internationally and released four CDs; Folk the World Tour, The Distant Future EP, Flight of the Conchords and I Told You I Was Freaky. After appearing in 2005 on HBO's One Night Stand, the duo were offered their own 12-part HBO series Flight of the Conchords. Its first season ran from June to September 2007 and it's second season from January to March 2009.
Clement has appeared in several feature films. His debut was in the kung fu comedy Tongan Ninja. Clement also has a role in American comedy Gentlemen Broncos, directed by Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess. In 2010 he voiced Jerry in Despicable Me and appeared in the film Dinner for Schmucks. In 2011 he voiced Nigel in Rio and reprised the role for i>Rio 2. In 2012, he appeared as the primary antagonist Boris the Animal in Men in Black 3.
In 2010, Clement and fellow Conchord member Bret McKenzie, guest starred as a pair of camp counselors in "Elementary School Musical," the 22nd season premiere of The Simpsons.
In August 2008, Clement married his longtime girlfriend, theater actress and playwright Miranda Manasiadis. They had a son named Sophocles Iraia Clement in October 2008.
