4. They believe in each other
Charming and Snow decide during their engagement that they will take back their kingdom from the Evil Queen. However, Snow begins to doubt herself and fears for the safety of her people if she continues to go against the Queen. Charming believes in Snow, though, and uses a fake Excalibur to prove it. Snow, believing Excalibur to be a magic sword whose wielder will be victorious, wins a brief skirmish with the Queen.
When the giant Tiny shows up in Storybrooke, he takes one look at Charming, and to quote Hook, gets a “murderous look.” It turns out that Tiny thinks Charming is his late twin brother, the real Prince James. David/Charming begins to wonder if he would have been a different person if he had been raised by King George instead of his brother. Mary Margaret/Snow believes in David. She believes his heart is good, and therefore he would have turned out as good as he is now.
