8. It’s true love
Knowing the curse is coming, Snow and Charming have the enchanted tree carved into a wardrobe that can transport only one person (or so they think) into the other world without being affected by the curse. Snow, pregnant with Emma, plans to go and raise Emma in the new world, but she’s conflicted. She doesn’t want to leave Charming. When he reminds her that she and Emma will break the curse and they’ll be together again, she laments that it would be 28 years. He then asks her, “What’s 28 years when you have eternal love?”
Henry convinces Mary Margaret to read to John Doe in the hospital. He thinks it will help him wake up. A little reluctantly she agrees, and furthermore agrees to read the fairy tales from the story book. While she is sitting on the edge of his bed and reading to him about Snow and Charming, he reaches over and grabs her hand! He knows, or maybe it’s his spirit that knows she is his true love.
When Regina, Snow and Charming discover Zelena’s plans, they seek a way to stop her. Banished to the Enchanted Forest, they find Glenda, the Good Witch of the North. She tells them the only way to defeat Zelena is with light magic. They, of course, automatically think of their daughter, Emma. However, there’s a bit of a problem planning for Emma to stop Zelena. They are in the Enchanted Forest with not portals to this world, and Emma is here with no memory of them. Realizing that recasting the Dark Curse is the only way to get back here to try to find Emma, they plan for Snow to crush Charming’s heart. After she does, she begs Regina to rip out her heart, tear it in half, and give each of them half. They now share two halves of the same heart.
