2. They’re parents and grandparents
Like any couple that becomes parents, Snow and Charming face dilemmas and experience uncomfortable situations. Since they did not get to be with Emma while she was growing up, they have the unique opportunity to go through these experiences for the first time with their adult child. This is one of the best parental scenes. Emma, who has just begun to accept that Snow and Charming are her parents, takes Henry out to run errands, and returns sooner than expected. In a classic scenario, Emma and Henry walk in on them in bed.
When Hook convinces Emma to come back to Storybrooke, she remembers them, but Henry doesn’t. She returns to find Snow very pregnant and all of the inhabitants can’t remember the last year of their lives (the time they were in the Enchanted Forest). When they offer to baby sit Henry, Emma winces and explains that Henry didn’t find them much fun. Although they are his grandparents, he doesn’t know that. Snow and Charming take Emma’s words as a challenge, and they set out to prove themselves as fun people.
Emma finally decides to go on a date with Hook. She gets dressed up, and Mary Margaret takes a picture of her as if she were going to a prom, or a ball. When she returns, Mary Margaret and David are both sitting there full of questions. Stereotypically, Mary Margaret wants to know all the details, and David just wants to know if he should beat him.
