Sony tells news publications to stop reporting, get rid of leaked information

In light of the hacking, Sony Pictures wants major news agencies to not release their leaked information.

Sony’s attorney David Boies sent a letter to major news publications telling them to get rid of the leaked information they obtained and not publish more stories on the information, according to Reuters. Publications that reported receiving the letter included The New York Times and Variety.

NYT reported that they received the letter by Boies on Sunday. In it, Boies said that Sony didn’t agree to allow the publication to use, obtain, and release the leaked information. Boies’ letter also said that Sony would hold the news publications responsible for damages from reporting and releasing the information if they didn’t stop.

The releases aren’t over either, Reuters reported. The Guardians of Peace, who claimed to have hacked Sony, warned on file-sharing website Pastebin that a larger release of information was being planned. They didn’t say exactly when it would be released, but according to their message, it may be by Christmas.
