Microsoft is victorious with its Xbox One sales, while video game sales may be higher than a report explained.
The NPD Group found that more Xbox One game systems were sold than Sony’s PlayStation 4 systems in November, according to USA Today. The total sales of video games were found to be only 11 percent lower than November of last year. However, analyst for Wedbush Securities Michael Pachter told the publication that software sold for consoles may have increased by up to 20 percent, due to unaccounted factors.
Microsoft did offer bundles of their Xbox One with games including Assassin’s Creed Unity before November, according to Cinema Blend, but the PS4 still remained the top game console sold. When November came, Microsoft decided to lower the Xbox One’s price to $349, which is $50 less than Sony’s system.
USA Today also reported that one factor that wasn’t counted with the sales data by NPD included the sales of games that were downloaded. Pachter also told the publication that the higher sales in software could also be attributed to games in console bundles that were sold.
