Actors Milla Jovovich and Sarah Paulson are celebrating their birthdays today, December 17.

Model, actress, musician and fashion designer Milla Jovovich turns 39 today. In 1987 she began modeling at the age of 12. Richard Avedon featured her in Revlon's "Most Unforgettable Women in the World" advertisements, and she also starred in campaigns for major companies. In 1988, Jovovich had her first acting role in the television film, The Night Train to Kathmandu, and that same year she also appeared in her first feature film, Two Moon Junction.

Jovovich gained attention for her role in the 1991 film Return to the Blue Lagoon, but was considered to have made her breakthrough with her role alongside Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman in the 1997 science-fiction film The Fifth Element.

In 2002, Jovovich starred in the commercially successful film Resident Evil, adapted from the video game of the same name. She reprised her role in the four sequels, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: Retribution. Jovovich also appeared in the films Ultraviolet, The Fourth Kind, A Perfect Getaway and The Three Musketeers.

Jovovich released a music album, The Divine Comedy, in 1994. In 2003, she and model Carmen Hawk created the clothing line Jovovich-Hawk.

Jovovich will appear in the upcoming drama Cymbeline alongside Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke and Ed Harris. Jovovich will also reprise her role in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

Film, stage and television actress Sarah Paulson turns 40 today. Paulson began her career on stage, and in the 1990s, transitioned to television, starring in the CBS series American Gothic, and The WB's Jack & Jill. She later appeared in films such as What Women Want, Down with Love, Path to War and The Notorious Bettie Page. From 2006 to 2007, Paulson played the role of Harriet Hayes in the NBC comedy drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her role. In 2008, she starred in the superhero film The Spirit. In 2009, Paulson had a leading role on the ABC comedy series Cupid.

Paulson also starred in a few made for television movies and independent films, including the independent drama Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011 and her Emmy and Golden Globe nominated role for her performance as Nicolle Wallace in the HBO movie Game Change in 2012.

In 2011, Paulson began starring in the FX anthology series American Horror Story. For her performance in the second season, she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2013. That same year, Paulson starred as Mary Epps in the Oscar-winning historical drama 12 Years a Slave. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for the third season of American Horror Story in 2014.
