Timbaland and Aaliyah fans use social media to mock the Aaliyah movie

On Saturday, the Lifetime network aired an Aaliyah unauthorized biopic, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, and many fans of the late singer - along with rapper Timbaland - weren’t too impressed.

Timbaland, who was a close friend of Aaliyah’s and played an important role in her career, refused to watch the movie and encouraged his followers to skip it. “Hope yall not watching this!!!!!!!!” Timbaland said on his Instagram in response to the movie.

Although Timbaland didn’t watch the biopic, he did take to his Instagram to post several memes and videos about the film. He claimed he wanted to make sure the people behind the movie “feel his wrath.”

Many of Aaliyah’s fans agreed with Timbaland and also made jokes about the film, which some felt poorly selected cast members to portray Aaliyah, her family and friends, according to Inquisitr.

The acting also appeared to be horrible, Inquisitr reports. Many people also thought the movie was doomed the beginning because Aaliyah’s family refused to get involved with it and would not allow producers to use any of Aaliyah’s hit songs.

Fans also seemed annoyed by Wendy Williams, who produced the movie because she stated that “Let Me Know” is her favorite Aaliyah song, when in fact the song is called “At Your Best.” This left many fans questioning how Williams can produce a movie on artist to which she can’t correctly name her songs.
