Stephen Merchant's television show Hello Ladies is getting a final farewell on HBO with a movie to conclude the series.
The show stars English funny man Merchant as an awkward software designer living in Los Angeles trying to find the perfect woman to be his wife. Things just don't seem to go well for him and Merchant's character just can't catch a break no matter how desperate he is.
But has the writer of the smash success The Office in the United Kingdom had more luck with the ladies now that he has become a celebrity?
“My honest answer is that now I just get rejected by a better class of woman than I did when I was 18,” Merchant joked in an interview with The Telegraph.
The show premiered with less than hopeful numbers and HBO ultimately decided to cancel the series.
Merchant is fortunately getting one last chance at love.
"When Stuart learns that his British ex-girlfriend is planning to visit Los Angeles with her husband, he sets out to impress them with his glamorous lifestyle, enlisting a Russian model he’s just met to play the role of his beautiful girlfriend. What could go wrong," the description of the movie from an HBO press release reads.
