Adele refrains from joining Band Aid song despite organizers' efforts

Singer Adele will not be lending her voice to the new version of the Band Aid song "Do They Know It's Christmas," according to Irish Examiner on Sunday.

The Irish news source reported that Adele ignored phone calls from Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, the original song's organizers, as well as the charity's organizers.

"We made 100 phone calls to Adele because [Geoldof] and [Ure] were desperate for her to take part," a source from Band Aid said. "But it was complete radio silence back. She didn't even bother to say she couldn't do it."

Geldof thinks the reason behind Adele's silence is that she's too busy being a mom, raising two-year-old son Angelo with her boyfriend and charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki, The Irish Examiner reported.

"She won't even pick up the phone to her manager," Geldof added. "She's bringing up a family, you know. Some people just don't want to do [the song]. Of course they agree with it, but it's not their way of doing something."

However the song's recording carried on, featuring some of the best talent today's music has to offer, including One Direction, U2's Bono, Ellie Goulding and Coldplay's Chris Martin, according to The Irish Examiner. Also involved is Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, as reported by us.

"[F]rankly, if we had any more people in this room we wouldn't get [the song] done," Geldof said. "It's f***ing rammed. You can't move, you know."

As for Adele, Geldof was told to have secured her for the 30th anniversary of the song, but told British news source The Sun that Adele is "doing nothing."

"She's not answering the phone. She's not writing. She's not recording. She doesn't want to be bothered by anyone." he said.
