9. Philip says goodbye to Aurora
Season 2 opens with the story of Sleeping Beauty. In this version, Prince Phillip receives help from Mulan in finding Aurora. He awakens her with true love’s kiss, only to be attacked by a wraith. All seems well until we realize that Phillip has been “marked,” meaning the wraith will come for him next. Mulan and Aurora are clueless to this fact. As they travel, Phillip tells Aurora that she needs to rest while he gets supplies. He’s really separating himself from the women so that when the wraith comes, they are not also attacked. There is a touching moment when he tells Aurora goodbye without her knowing it. Goodbye kisses can be just as emotionally charged as curse breaking kisses or even more so.
