Grey’s Anatomy episode “Puzzle with the Piece Missing” was all about the new doctor to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. We learned a lot about how she operates with patients as well as the other doctors at the hospital. From getting Karev fired from his private practice to saving multiple lives and letting some go during the episode.
We really got a good introduction about how Pierce is going to fit into the staff. It seemed like she was going to be somewhat of a loner since it has been a couple months since she arrived and she has yet to make any friends. But she and Amelia Shepherd are hitting it off, after working together on a case about a girl who had a stroke during sex. This bond could work out quite nicely since Amelia has Meredith as an in-law. Maybe she could show Pierce how to get on Grey’s good side.
It seems though that Pierce is going to have a hard time winning over Meredith after the confrontational day they just went through. After Pierce fulfilled her patient’s final wish about not being resuscitated, Grey thinks that she is an incompetent doctor killing patients. It doesn’t help either that her parents in Boston sent a singing telegram about how proud they are of her. It was like a neon sign pointing right over Pierce’s head saying “unprofessional.”
However, that isn’t the case with her. She saved several patients during this episode and discovered information that even Yang couldn’t. From saving pregnant moms with heart problems to the discovery of why the three McNeil children all had cardiomyopathies, it seems like Pierce is an all around superhero. Could it be too good to be true?
But Meredith Grey isn’t the only one Pierce can’t seem to get along with. Jo Wilson seems to have gotten on the bad side of the newest doctor. After letting slip that Karev was getting the open seat on the board, Pierce trying to make small talk during surgery got Karev in trouble with his partner Dr. Oliver Lebackes. Seems like Wilson should leave the pillow talk in the bedroom.
Hopefully, Pierce can start to turn things around after revealing that Ellis Grey is her biological mother. Maybe next week we can find out if Richard Webber is Pierce’s biological father. Stay tuned.
