Bill Murray's latest movie St. Vincent gets a wide theatrical release in the United States this weekend. At the same time, Netflix has added the film to their streaming library for viewers in France.
St. Vincent follows the story of two unlikely friends, an outspoken war veteran played by Bill Murray and a young boy who moves in next door to Murray with his recently divorced mother.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos is excited to bring the movie to France via Netflix which recently started services in the country last month, according to Variety.
""The French are true film lovers,” Sarandos said. ""We are thrilled to bring French viewers these great films shortly after their theatrical release in the U.S.”
St. Vincent is directed by Theodore Melfi who wooed Murray into joining his cast with an old fashioned hand written letter. Once the two finally met in person, Murray agreed to join the cast. Melfi mentioned what he thought about Murray, News-Leader reported.
""He is the most free, spontaneous wild creature you could ever imagine,"" Melfi said. ""He is kind of like a lone wolf. He doesn't like the Hollywood style. He doesn't like to be tied down. He wants to be free.""
St. Vincent also stars Melissa McCarthy and is in theatres now.
