Simone Battle, former 'X-Factor' star and GRL member, dies at 25 of apparent suicide

Simone Battle, who is a former X-Factor star, reportedly passed away of apparent suicide on Friday.

The G.R.L. member was discovered in her Los Angeles area residence and signs are pointing to death by suicide, law enforcement sources exclusively told TMZ. Still, an autopsy has yet to be completed, so they haven't ruled out other possibilities.

Battle's father spoke with the site and said she had been living in the guest home of a West Hollywood residence. Police say they found her hanging in the closet of the bedroom.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.," a joint statement from Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, RCA Records and Kemosabe Records said, People reports.

"Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."

The 25-year-old singer appeared on the U.S. X-Factor three years ago and made it as far into the competition as the top 17. A year later, Battle joined Antin's new all-girl group G.R.L., who sang the chorus for Pitbull's "Wild Wild Love."
