Piers Morgan and CNN officially sever ties, former host turns down two-year deal

Piers Morgan and CNN have officially split up, with the former TV host explaining he turned down a two-year offer to remain with the news network.

While Piers Morgan Live signed off at the end of March to the likely collective cheers of most everyone, it wasn't until Tuesday that Morgan was officially done at the news network.

In the morning, Morgan took to his Twitter account and through several tweets, explained that he turned down an offer from CNN President Jeff Zucker to "host 40 big interview 'specials.'" He said he thought about staying, but in the end "I decided not to accept it - and to try pastures news."

The British news host, who closed out his time on Piers Morgan Live railing for better gun control, added that the NRA shouldn't "crack the champagne open too quickly," insisting he isn't "finished with you lot yet."

Since announcing he was done at CNN, Morgan has been retweeting various comments, both positive and negative about his departure and jokingly agreed to be the Los Angeles Kings' mascot Bailey's assistant.
