The weather is starting to cool down, the leaves are changing, and the film festival circuits are in full swing. At the moment, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is getting all the fun these past two weeks. But the New York Film Festival has released a first trailer today showing that they mean business.
The trailer, which comes from Entertainment Weekly, showcases footage from a variety of movies, including the recently premiered Birdman, Maps to the Stars, Jean-Lou Godard's latest picture and more, which will all be showcased during the festival's run from September 26 through October 12.
But the biggest take-away from this is that it offers—if just briefly—our first look at any footage from Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Benico Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Owen Wilson and more, is widely considered among the heaviest upcoming hitters of the fall movie season. But, besides some stills, the film's promotions have been fairly numb at the moment. Thus, this brief trailer gives PTA fans their first official look at any new footage from the movie. Inherent Vice is set to premiere on October 4.
Also included in the montage of footage is some more clips from David Fincher's latest, Gone Girl, premiering and opening the festival on September 26.
For those not quite lucky enough to see these two movies during their festival runs, they can check them out in a theater near them. Which will be October 3 for Gone Girl and December 12 in limited release for Inherent Vice.
