NBC has cast another key part of the Peter Pan Live! cast, adding some Broadway experience to the peacock network’s new live musical with Allison Williams.
Kelli O’Hara, a five-time Tony Award nominated actress, will play Mrs. Darling, the mother of Wendy, John and Michael. She adds some traditional Broadway pizzazz to the production, since she has earned five Tony nods in the past three years. She appeared in The Bridges of Madison County, Nice Work If You Can Get It, South Pacific, The Pajama Game and The Light in the Piazza.
Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, called her “Broadway royalty, a musical star at the top of her game.” He added that, “She will be perfect as the regal mother of the Darling children, and we look forward to her rendition of the beautiful lullaby ‘Tender Shepherd.’”
O’Hara has also appeared in Follies, Jekyll & Hyde and Sweet Smell of Success: The Musical.
So far, Peter Pan Live!’s cast has relied on Hollywood stars. Allison Williams from HBO’s Girls got the lead role. A picture of her in costume was released last week. Christopher Walken is playing Captain Hook.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are executive producing Peter Pan Live!, just as they did last year with The Sound of Music Live!.
Peter Pan Live! will be broadcast live (obviously) on Dec. 4.
