Mel Brooks celebrated the 40th anniversary of his film Young Frankenstein with a hand and footprint ceremony at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Monday and played a prank that is now cemented in history.
To cement his handprint, Brooks wore a prosthetic sixth finger on his left hand, making it appear that he had 11 fingers.
“I desperately need to wash my hands,” he tweeted.

Brooks' son, Max Brooks, introduced him at the event.
"About time, huh? Comedians never get their fair share of recognition in Hollywood. How often does a comedy get best movie of the year?" he reportedly asked the crowd when introducing his father, Daily News reports.
Brooks, 88, won an Academy Award for his work on Producers back in 1969.
“Hands are clean but the shoes will never be the same. Now I'm off to tape @ConanOBrien tonight! #teamcoco," he also tweeted that night.
Hollywood.com reports he later told O'Brien, "I wanted to do something just a little different, so I got another finger. Somebody's gonna come in from Des Moines, Iowa and say, 'Mother... Does Mel Brooks have six fingers?'"
